The Line 6 Pod Studio UX2 USB audio interface offers many features for a low price. For only $199.99 (sometimes cheaper), you get awesome sound quality with the possibility to record instruments and vocals at the same time. The UX2 audio recording interface is recommended for home studio usage by amateur musicians and mainly recording guitarists, but it can definitely be used for recording vocals as well!

Line 6 made a really awesome and affordable sound interface with the UX2.

Not only is the Line 6 UX2 a high quality audio interface, it is extremely light weight — I’m talking light like a feather!

I was shocked when I picked up the UX2 for my first time! The equipment almost felt like it was a cheap piece of plastic junk compared to other audio interfaces, but the cheap-feeling weight of the UX2 is not comparable to the pristine quality of the device.

I’ve recorded many songs while using the Line 6 UX2 interface paired with everyone’s favorite microphone, the RØDE NT1-A condenser microphone, and it works great for my vocal booth and small studio recording needs. It is possible to record up to two tracks at a time on the UX2. If you want to record some electric or acoustic guitar while simultaneously singing vocals, the UX2 would be a perfect fit for you, however, if you need more than two tracks at a time, you might want to consider a different interface or multitrack recording device.

The sound quality of the Line 6 UX2 is crisp, clear, up front, and warm.

I am quite impressed by the quality this lightweight audio interface puts out, especially for the affordable price of only about $200. The vocals from my RØDE NT1-A microphone sit nicely in my mixes and I don’t have many complaints about the UX2 overall. Mind you, the quality of your recordings has a lot to do with the noise environment of your room or booth, and will ultimately have a major impact on the final outcome of your music.

One of my favorite things about the UX2 is the absolutely awesome software it comes paired with: the Pod Farm Plugin Suite and Cubase LE 8 recording software. The Pod Farm plugin has some legendary guitar tones for you to mess around with for hours on end and Cubase will enable you to put your recorded music into multitracks! I love that the Pod Farm plugin suite has tons of guitar tone presets you can use that mimic the sounds of the all time greats such as Eddie Van Halen and Jimi Hendrix. This software is truly never ending fun if you’re a guitarist, and I highly recommend it if you are shopping for an audio interface on a small budget.

The only real complaint I have about the Line 6 UX2 is the fact that it can be somewhat unreliable and glitchy. It took me a few days to find the absolute best setting that would work for my custom built computer. I would often get sound drop outs, clicks and pops while getting used to the UX2 interface. After a few days, I finally found a perfect median of settings which worked best on my machine. If you come across performance issues, I recommend tweaking with the various settings until you get it just perfect for your machine. Once you get the settings dialed in and performing well, I feel like you really won’t regret purchasing the UX2 interface. If it turns out that you don’t enjoy the interface, the UX2 keeps its resale value pretty well if you ever want to get rid of it.
